City of Gainesville (Alachua County) Area Realtors:
RE: Notification to Realtors Regarding Cabot-Koppers Superfund Site
Dear Realtor,
Alachua County wants to provide additional information to realtors about the Cabot Koppers Superfund site in northwest Gainesville. This effort is in response to inquiries from agents and citizen complaints about the need for more extensive disclosure to prospective buyers and tenants of properties in the Stephen Foster Neighborhood.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency has committed to completely delineating the extent of contamination of off-site properties and cleaning up impacted properties near the Cabot-Koppers Superfund site to achieve Florida residential and commercial soil cleanup standards. Until USEPA’s remedial work is done, ACEPD is maintaining an updated map of the location of verified soil test results on the County’s website at http://www.alachuacounty.us/Depts/EPD/Pollution/Pages/SoilData.aspx
Please contact Dr. John Mousa, Pollution Prevention Manager with the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department, for additional information. Dr. Mousa can be contacted at 352-264-6805 or jjm@alachuacounty.us
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Chris Bird
